Marginal zone lymphoma with prominent lymphoepithelial sialadenitis in heterotopic salivary gland tissue

چکیده
This is the first reported case of a marginal zone lymphoma with prominent lymphoepithelial sialadenitis of heterotopic salivary gland tissue. A 67-year-old female patient presented neck masses. Neck 3-dimensional computed tomography suggested Sjögren’s syndrome in both parotid glands and also revealed several cervical lymph nodes enlargement. Histologic findings of superficial parotid glands were consistent with marginal zone lymphoma with prominent lymphoepithelial lesions. Several paraparotid and infraparotid lymph nodes showd morphologic features similar to parotid glands with prominent lymphoepithelial sialadenitis.

Lymphoma of the salivary gland accounts for 5% of cases of extranodal lymphoma and 10% of malignant salivary gland tumours. Most primary salivary gland lymphomas are B marginal zone lymphomas arising on a background of sialadenitis associated with autoimmune disorders such as Sjorgen's syndrome. Primary T cell lymphoma of the salivary gland is rare. This report describes a case of primary T cel...

INTRODUCTION Mucosa associated lymphoid tissue lymphomas are the most common lymphomas of the salivary glands. The benign lymphoepithelial lesion is also a lymphoproliferative disease that develops in the parotid gland. In the present case report, we describe one case of benign lymphoepithelial lesion with a subsequent low transformation to grade mucosa associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma appea...

Four cases of an unusual type of thymic hyperplasia strongly resembling lymphoepithelial sialadenitis (LESA) of the salivary glands are described. The patients were 2 men and 2 women aged 37 to 53 years. On histologic examination, abundant lymphoid tissue with lymphoid follicles containing germinal centers and areas of plasma cell infiltration were seen. The epithelial component consisted of a ...

BACKGROUND/AIM Sjögren's syndrome is a chronic autoimmune systemic disease characterized by polyglandular tissue destruction, leading to keratoconjunctivitis sicca and xerostomia. These patients have 44-fold increased risk of developing salivary gland lymphoma, of which 80% are marginal zone (MALT) type. Having in mind that criteria for distinguishing benign lymphoepithelial lesions from MALT l...
